The road to Smuggler’s Notch in Vermont was closed due to snowfall and ice. What more can be said? It started out as a sunny, but cold, day that turned into a freezing day. This narrow pass served as an important trade route in the past when American trade with Canada and Great Britain was forbidden. The scene at the pass reminded me of my snowmageddon.
The notch is now a state park. We were driving through the narrow pass to see history in this part of the country. The weather prevented us from doing so but also allowed us to walked through the closed road for a closer look. A closer look that we would have missed if we were just driving through it.
