Saints Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church

Saints Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, located in Dubina, was the sixth of the painted churches that we visited. We were running out of time and this church was the last visitation.

The facade

It must have been our lucky day. We tried opening the front door of the church but found it locked. We were about to give up, as the the sun was setting, when a lady opened the door for us and allowed us in. It turned out that she was only there for some business and was kind enough to let us see the inside of the church. She even turned on the lights for us.

door

Saints Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church shared the same white exterior as some other painted churches we have seen. The front was showing a door that looked old and well used. Inside, the blue background, the stars on the ceiling, and the brown/gold color of the altar was far from ordinary. I cannot say that this painted church was the best but I was awed when I saw the interior. The other painted churches were just as impressive while showing its own unique character – St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Praha, Ascension of our Lord Catholic Church, St. John the Baptist German Catholic Church, St. Mary Catholic Church at High Hill, and St. John the Baptist at Ammansville.
