Saint Mary High Hill

Saint Mary High Hill, formally called Saint Mary Catholic Church, was the fourth painted church that we visited. We thought we had it planned. Our time was consumed driving around looking for the fourth painted church. It was confusing because Saint Mary’ Catholic Church in Praha and Saint Mary Catholic Church at High Hill had similar names. We eventually found it and was equally amazed with its interior color and design.

Saint Mary High Hill was looking empty from the outside. A few people, revealing activity inside the church, walked out the front door, and headed to the barely occupied parking lot. A red, gothic style side door facing the parking lot looked like the front door to me. The front door in fact looked bigger and heavier at the front of the church. I even thought the church looked taller and bigger than the other painted churches.

There was activity inside the church. It was well lighted when we came in as they were preparing for a service. We were full of gratitude that we came before the service began. We headed straight for the pews, knelt in prayer, and offered our prayer of thanks to an altar that was aglow with all its rich color.
