Alhambra and Granada from Generalife

The beautiful garden retreat and farming estate of Jardines de Generalife

East of the Alhambra was Jardines de Generalife. A restored modern-day garden retreat and farm estate from the Nasrid period. It was a private retreat and a farming estate for the elites.

Our tour guide was asking us if we were up to visiting Jardines de Generalife. We were concluding our visit to the Alhambra. The gardens were on a different site. It required an uphill walk that may be challenging. Most of us agree and started walking towards the gardens.

It was indeed requiring a little bit of effort to reach Jardines de Generalife. It was a short 15-minute but uphill walk. The reward was fulfilling as we were standing in the middle of the gardens. There were several beautiful landscape views of the garden. The Alhambra and the town of Granada were also visible when standing from one of the garden terraces.

The Alhambra was looking so close to the gardens. It was almost like you could reach over and touch it. Then, you remember that you were walking up the hill to get to the gardens. There were existing passageways though that led directly to the gardens from the Alhambra. These were used by the rulers of the castle and gardens.
