We had a lot of time to waste this afternoon. The sun was hot and making everything look hazy. It was too bright not to wear any sunglasses and even with the sunglasses, there was a nauseating feeling just looking around. I sat far longer that I planned in my air-conditioned vehicle and I struggled with the discomfort. The brightness and hotness of the sun here made me cringe. A contrast to the beautiful sunsets I saw in Austin, Texas. Right across was the main entrance to the Texas Tech University campus.

Deserted campus

I sat and looked at the main entrance. All the time that I had lived in this place, I never thought of walking and looking closely at what was in there. I looked around and saw that the sun was about to set. It felt cooler and, I thought, this may be a good time to just walk around and look. There were a few vehicles crawling around the rotunda that interrupted the deserted look of the campus.

The COVID19 lockdown happened right after spring break. The students left and never came back. For the rest of the semester, online classes completed the requirements.

There were a few students milling around campus clad in their graduation toga. Trailing after them were photographers directing poses at different locations of the campus. In the absence of the traditional graduation ceremony, the students had compensated by creating their own memories. The hallways, staircases, and even buildings of Texas Tech University campus showcased the rich learning background and traditions.
