SPC nursing 1990 reunion

I had the chance of playing co-host and photographer to the SPC nursing 1990 reunion. Graduates of San Pedro College, School of Nursing, class 1990 held a reunion in Dallas, Texas. The participants reside in Texas and they had started the yearly (supposedly, they missed a few years after the second year) gathering to stay connected to each other. In a few more months, they will be marking thirty years since graduation. This year, the event was attended by a few out-of-state class members.

My acquaintance with this class goes back to when they were still students. They didn’t look like the young students anymore when I saw them during the reunion. They were dressed elegantly for the occasion. As they were arriving, I couldn’t help but wonder how my child will look like when he attends his own class reunion after graduating from high school in 2018.

The customary greetings and huggings were done like a well choreographed dance. It took a while for the animated bustle to settle down. “How are you?’ was the most asked question and everybody was more than eager to respond. Thirty years seemed like a life time ago but it flew by fast. Together again, each one was asking if the path they dreamed was the path that they actually took.

All of them were a depiction of success. Their paths diverged when they left their alma mater and each one found their own calling. Each one grabbed the opportunity that was presented and they built upon it. Somehow, their calling and their path brought them all together in the great state of Texas.

Later on that night, after dinner, after speech and games, a big circle was formed and each one shared the story of their career path. I, along with a few others, respectfully withdrew from the circle and provided them with the opportunity to reconnect. I couldn’t help but overhear a few bits and pieces of their stories. Each one had their own happy story to tell. SPC nursing 1990 reunion served its purpose. They reconnected and all became classmates once again.
