Frisco High School graduation 2018

Frisco Independent School District (FISD) graduated more that 3,700 high school students for 2018.  Eight high schools, including one that graduated their first batch of high school students, held graduation ceremonies to mark the end of the school year.

I think it was very impressive that FISD was able to keep up with the phenomenal growth of the city of Frisco.   We moved into Frisco in 2008 and it was already the fastest growing school district in the state and the nation.  We liked the suburban feeling of the place and the presence of an excellent school district was a plus to the list of good things about Frisco.

The weekend of June 2-3 was busy with consecutive graduation ceremonies at Dr. Pepper ballpark arena and The Ford Center.  I attended a graduation ceremony for each venue and witnessed the transition of students to graduates.

Definitely, enthusiasm came from the parents, relatives, and friends of the graduates.  All of them were eagerly waiting for their student to be recognized as a high school graduate.  Their whoops and applause offered encouragement and merriment!

Families and friends cheered as loudly as possible as each student was called to stage and congratulated.  It was so impressive that I actually did close my eyes, knowing that I was in a sports arena, and felt like I was in a sporting event!

The graduation ceremony followed the pattern of parade and speech.  Each speaker reminisced a little bit about the past four years and presented a speculation of the future.  I know everybody wished for the best for these graduates.

The end of the graduation ceremony found graduates, parents, relatives, and friends gathered together outside for the obligatory picture taking and congratulations.  The Texas heat was ignored and people milled around every available spot.  There were lots of happy, smiling faces.

  1. […] My acquaintance with this class goes back to when they were still students. They didn’t look like the young students anymore when I saw them during the reunion. They were dressed elegantly for the occasion. As they were arriving, I couldn’t help but wonder how my child will look like when he attends his own class reunion after graduating from high school in 2018. […]
