Savannah river marketplace and walk

The first place that we checked out when we arrived at Savannah, Georgia from the Angel Oak tree was the Savannah river marketplace. The marketplace was described as a trendy marketplace that offers shopping, dining, and nightlife. We walked the whole length of the marketplace street and checked out most of the stores along the way. I especially liked Savannah’s Candy Kitchen but resisted the temptation to indulge. We walked the whole length of the riverside until we could not go any farther.

The bridge, the river, and the riverbank were all in front of me in panoramic view. Somehow, this combination from the Savannah River marketplace made memories come rushing back to me of a hometown where I grew up. The world war 2 era bridge that we crossed going in and out of town, the riverbanks that were always muddy and scattered with squatter shanties, and the river that flowed clear when calm but muddy and debris filled when glutted with water.

I have always wondered why the same scene becomes picturesque in some places but remains archaic in others.
