Red Northern Cardinal On A Branch

A photograph of a Northern Cardinal. This bird surprised me by perching on a branch five feet away from me. It didn’t even fly away even though we were speaking loudly. It didn’t even fly away when I raised my camera and took several shots. The bird just kept staring back and “posing”. I then realized that the “poses” were actually warning signals that I was encroaching on its territory. We slowly walked away to respect the bird’s territorial claim.

This photograph was taken while visiting the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden.

    • I think he knows he’s handsome. He perched 5 feet away from me and posed 😄
