Placa Redona

Placa Redona Square: The Hidden Square in Valencia

Placa Redona was a small, round-shaped square in the middle of El Mercat (The Market) in Valencia, Spain. It was where we found ourselves taking a break from walking around Valencia, Spain. It was the smallest square in Valencia that was surrounded by three bigger plazas – La Placa del Mercat (Market Plaza), La Placa de la Reina (Plaza of the Queen), and La Placa de I’Ajuntament (City Hall Plaza).

Placa Redona was also known as the Invisible Plaza. It was surrounded continuously by apartments on all sides that it was impossible to see it from the outside. There was access though on all directions from the surrounding three plazas so foot traffic can go unimpeded.
