Pease District Park, Austin, Texas

Pease District Park was a new city park that we visited in Austin, Texas. We came upon it on a recent visit to Austin, Texas. The search for a suitable venue for a college reunion brought us to this place. There were several other city parks nearby and Pease District Park looked like the most suitable. It was different from nearby state parks, like Pedernales Falls State Park, as it was definitely closer to the city and more urban in appeal.

Happiness is a game of chess

We observed a variety of ongoing activities. The concrete tables and benches in this area can accommodate a large group of people and allowed for simultaneous activities like a child’s birthday party and group chess playing. The adjacent open field was conducive for ball games. The players were graceful enough to allow me to take their photograph – thank you! The game kept on going the whole time that we were there. There was a constant change of opposing players each time hands shook to end a game. Chess seemed to be the favorite game among young adults. At the other end of the park, the Treehouse Observatory was popular among kids. The net flooring acted as a trampoline that kept the children entertained and active.

    • It does look like a popular park. It’s fairly new so I guess a lot of people are visiting the newer part of the development. I think I heard that they keep developing all the city parks until it’s one big park.
