Cooper Lake State Park camping

Cooper Lake State Park camping was a fun activity that we did for a weekend. Cooper Lake lies 85 miles northeast of Dallas, Texas. It is close to the cities of Sulphur Springs to the south and Commerce to the west. There are a lot of other smaller towns surrounding it. A branch of my alma mater, Texas A & M University, is in Commerce. There are two state park units by Cooper Lake – Doctors Creek unit and South Sulphur unit. We went to this park to try something new and we were lucky it had available camping sites at the South Sulphur Unit. Both park units though offered a lot of amenities. One can fish, swim, boat, paddle, kayak, water ski, picnic, hike, bike, bird watch, star gaze, ride horses, or simply do nothing at camp. Somehow, we were able to camp, hike, bike, swim, watch the sun set, star gaze, and sleep late at night after singing, talking, eating, and enjoying each other’s company. We really had a fun weekend.
