Autumn leaves

Autumn has come and the autumn leaves are here.  Leaves are scattered on the ground and spreads the different shades of autumn on an otherwise drab, green grass or dark-colored clay soil.  It’s the time of the year for me to enjoy the change in weather and dread the coming of winter.

It’s time to rake the leaves again.  Time to clean the backyard and prepare for the cold wind to start blowing.  The plants, trees, and grass are starting to sleep for the cold season.  Soon, it will turn brown.

The scattered leaves look like splashes of color.  They have turned to different shades of autumn.  Subdued colors of green to red.  Autumn is always pictured as different shades of colors of oak or maple leaves.  I have a peach tree and plum trees at the backyard but, nonetheless, they still show the different colors of autumn.

The leaves in the woods look different.  They lay where they fall and they paint the ground with their color.  Autumn will strip the trees bare of leaves.  Only the spindly branches remain for the winter.  The ground will keep the color of the autumn leaves until they dry and rot.  The color fade as they become part of the ecosystem.

For me, autumn is the best time of the year.  The summer heat has left and the touch of the north wind becomes a respite.  Flowers bloom, birds and butterflies migrate, and the autumn weather creates spectacular sunsets.
